As a venue that has been involved in Independent Venue Week since its inception in 2014, Komedia Brighton are excited to announce that they boast one of the largest programmes of events during the seven-day celebration of small music venues around the country, which runs from Monday 28th January – Sunday 3rd February 2019. Their varied programme includes ten shows in total, with more TBA, including big-name bands from the US and the UK as well as their usual top-circuit comedy acts.

Music highlights include Brighton’s very own The Magic Gang (30 Jan), who were Nominated for Best New Artist at the NME Awards and whose debut album reached number twelve in the UK album chart and a triple-header with psych rockers Phobophobes, post-punk electric noise makers Madonnatron and space-surf band Japanese Television (2 Feb).

Comedy highlights include the award-winning Krater Comedy Club (Fri 1 – Sat 2 Feb) with Edinburgh Comedy Award Nominee Carl Donnelly and Bent Double (3 Feb), with Garrett Millerick, whose breakout show Sunflower became one of the best reviewed shows at the 2018 Edinburgh Festival.

Independent Venue week was created to celebrate the venues who are the backbone of the live music scene, so head down to Komedia and support a local, independent venue. What better way to start 2019?
