The Brighton Acoustic Session plays host to international guests this month.
The Bombadils, a Canadian duo, are due to play at the Lord Nelson, in Trafalgar Street, Brighton, this evening (Monday 1 July) with the session starting at 8pm.
The Brighton Acoustic Club said: “Nova Scotian maritimer Luke Fraser and Alberta prairie-girl Sarah Frank create beautiful harmonies and enchanting melodies with old folk songs, poetry, and original songs in a Canadian folk and contemporary bluegrass framework.
“They made a guest appearance at the club about five years ago when Georgia Lewis and Friends were playing, so it’s about time we got them back for a full gig.
“As always, floor singers are welcome.”
The Bombadils website said: “Luke’s guitar, mandolin, and harmonies are the ideal counterpoint to Sarah’s sweet-yet-powerful vocals, lyrical fiddle and claw-hammer banjo.
“Innovative arrangements give their songs layer upon layer of sonically satisfying surprises.
“They tour internationally and have been nominated for two Canadian Folk Music Awards and have won Folk Music Ontario’s Album of the Year award.”
Admission is free, although there is a collection.
The event is sponsored by Harvey’s Brewery and Hobgoblin Music.
