Three people have been arrested after the police helicopter was called out to help track two motorbikes stolen during a burglary in Brighton.

The helicopter was circling over Brighton and Hove yesterday afternoon (Thursday 8 December), circling an area that appeared to include Hangleton, West Blatchington and the A27 Brighton bypass.

The incident was triggered after the motorbikes were reported to have been stolen from a garage in Kemp Town.

Sussex Police said this morning: “Police were called to a report of a burglary at a garage near Eaton Place, in Brighton, at approximately 2.39pm.

“Two motorcycles were seen making off from the scene and a National Police Air Service (NPAS) helicopter was deployed.

“Following inquiries, a 20-year-old man from Brighton and an 18-year-old man from Brighton were arrested on suspicion of theft.

“A 17-year-old boy was later also arrested on suspicion of theft.

“All three remain in custody at this time.”

Is there a sentence of House Arrest as well as community work that could be levied due to their age? Plus tagging. Anything less is not a deterrent. Prison teaches criminals to keep on doing it. Their futures are now blighted with impending criminal records (unless they are repeat offenders who belong in prison).

A survey this week scarily shows a large % in this age group have no interest in employment – do not intend to ever get jobs. That is how badly they view life now.

Thank goodness the police helicopter was able to apprehend these young criminals and catch them in the act. A friend of mine in Brighton nearly had his scooter stolen the same day by four helmeted villian’s with two stolen motorbikes with obvious false registration plates, but their attempt was foiled by an observant onlooker who took a photograph of them before they fled. However, they caused some damage to his scooter. I just hope that justice will prevail to ensure that this arrest will lead to their detention in prison or at least a young offenders centre. I am certain that they have been involved in many such offences in the Brighton area and believe they probably steal motorbikes or scooters to order showing that they are professional thieves who should be locked away for the benefit of the local community.

Police are happy to chase an ongoing crime. For anything else they’ll just ignore you, especially if you happen to be male.
