Greens announce all 54 candidates for local elections in Brighton and Hove

The Greens have announced their full list of candidates for the 2023 local elections in Brighton and Hove

The Greens have announced all 54 candidates for the local elections which are due to take place next month in Brighton and Hove.

The Greens have announced their full list of candidates for the 2023 local elections in Brighton and Hove

The party plans to contest every seat in all 23 wards – up from 21 wards after a boundary review – as it seeks to stay in charge of Brighton and Hove City Council.

The full list of candidates is below. It includes 11 of the 20 current Green councillors. Nine are standing down.

At least three of the candidates have served previously – Christopher Hawtree, Ollie Sykes and Georgia Wrighton.

Council leader Phélim Mac Cafferty will lead the party into the elections with deputies Hannah Allbrooke and Siriol Hugh-Jones also standing again.

Council Leader Cllr Phélim Mac Cafferty said: “I’m delighted to unveil our full team of fantastic Green Party candidates ready to represent communities across Brighton and Hove in the council elections on Thursday 4 May.

“Many councillors are re-standing, alongside a number of former councillors who are returning which will boost the wealth of experience in our team.

“Combined with a number of experienced new community candidates, we have a wealth of energy, talent and insight.

“This will be important to continue leading the council, tackling the housing crisis, playing our part to fight the climate crisis and unlocking investment and attracting jobs and opportunities.

“When you vote Green on Thursday 4 May, you vote for action – action on the climate crisis, action for a fairer Brighton and Hove.”

What’s an eco area? Is that when they cluster loads of stinking bins together and then stop picking up the rubbish?

Please don’t allow the Greens to continue to neglect the city and its residents. Vanity projects and ideological dogma have brought the city to its knees, shameful and irresponsible – please get out and vote and vote them out.

And let’s hope none of them get elected. It would be really amazing to have a city with decent recycling and less pollution from cars in traffic jams

Does Phelim really believe that the Greens will get re-elected after the current disastrous tenure? They are driven by ideological dogma and don’t have an ounce of common sense between them! On top of that, they lie and deceive and try to dodge democratic process. Get them all out!

I wonder how many of them have real jobs working for companies that need to make profits, how many have families with children or disabled relatives, how many have knowledge of economics or STEM, how many care about the state of the city and attracting businesses and visitors, and how many are BAME?

Or are they mainly immature, inexperienced, arrogant activists, who think that getting elected means they can push through their pet schemes, via sham consultations, and treat those who disagree with them with utter contempt?

the guy in a wheelchair (Ricky) can get anywhere in this city and any other city in any other country.. the guy in a wheelchair (Ricky) is more concered that someone else will struggle with access issues after they fall or hurt themselves for a short or longterm period and need accessible cities… HEY … do not worry Peter A … if tomorrow someone hits you with a bus or you have a freak accident that impairs you or a loved one then (the guy in a wheelchair) is making the city more accessible not for himself … but for the trolls that never thought they would ONE day get old, get sick, get disabled, get loved ones injured, Trolls like Peter A
