A student union women’s officer from Hove is due to go on trial next summer for allegedly expressing support for Hamas a day after its militants entered Israel.

Today (Friday 15 December), Hanin Barghouthi, 22, of Eaton Grove, formally entered a not guilty plea to a charge of expressing support for the proscribed organisation on Sunday 8 October.

The charge alleges that she “expressed an opinion or belief” supportive of Hamas in a speech in the centre of Brighton in breach of the Terrorism Act 2000.

It is claimed that at the time she was “reckless as to whether a person to which the expression was directed would be encouraged to support such an organisation”.

Barghouthi appeared at the Old Bailey before Mr Justice Jeremy Baker.

He set a date for a further plea and directions hearing on Friday 5 April.

The judge also set a provisional date for a trial at Kingston Crown Court over three days, starting on Monday 10 June.

Barghouthi, who was dressed all in black, was granted continued conditional bail.

Her bail conditions ban her from obtaining international travel documents or using a mobile phone not authorised by police unless in an emergency.

She was also ordered to live and sleep at her home address each night.

Maybe she would prefer to live under Hamas rule.

Is she still a student at Sussex University, & the Women’s officer ?
Does she still believe the Hamas attacks which killed 1,200 civilians were “beautiful & inspiring” ?
What’s happened to members of Brighton Palestine Solidarity Campaigned who cheered & applauded her ?

Yes I was utterly repulsed by the reports of women and girls being killed whilst being raped simultaneously (and yes apparently there is video evidence). How anyone can describe this as anything but horrific is beyond me..

Unfortunately these opinions are shared throughout the country by the Muslim and pathetic student population. For some reason they think its fashionable wearing a Kaffiya when this is dress of a terrorist, they might as well wear Swastikas on their arms.

Decent people need to stand up to this behaviour and call them out on it. Well done for Sussex police for taking this kind of behaviour seriously. There should be no place for it in our city.

Hopefully, she has been expelled from the University. I was ashamed of living in this country having to listen to these anti-Semitic protestors glorifying terrorism.

Unfortunately she is still listed on their website as Women’s Officer. Shame on Sussex Uni for still effectively endorsing her instead of making their Jewish students feel safe by removing her name. The academic world is run by woke cowards who do not have much emotional intelligence, humanity or integrity. Check out this wonderful ‘Untisemity’ parody video https://youtu.be/rbfccVBo9tE?feature=shared
