Pro-Palestine campaigner arrested over anti-Israel rally

Brighton activist dodges prison over drone factory plot

Tony Greenstein

A Brighton pro-Palestine campaigner has been arrested for making allegedly racist comments while speaking at an anti-Israel rally in London.

Tony Greenstein has blogged about his arrest last Friday at the demo outside the home of the Israeli ambassador in Swiss Cottage.

He says the comments he was arrested for involved a comparison of Israel with Nazi Germany.

He has now launched a crowdfunder which has already raised more than £6,000 to “stop the police persecuting Palestinian Solidarity Activists”.

It says he will be pleading not guilty if charged, and if he’s not, he will bring a civil suit against the Metropolitan Police for “false and malicious imprisonment” while being held in police cells.

A spokesman for the Metropolitan Police said: “A 70-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a committing a racially aggravated public order offence during a protest in Swiss Cottage on 4 October.

“He was taken into police custody and has been bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early December.

“Enquiries into the circumstances continue.”

Mr Greenstein has also posted the form he was given by police when he was released on police bail.

It imposes two conditions – one, not to enter Camden (the London Borough of Camden includes Swiss Cottage) or to attend any pro-Palestine protests in London.

Mr Greenstein says he will be seeking to have the condition not to attend any pro-Palestine protests in London removed as it is against Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights.

He used to be part of the Hollingdean Community Centre many years ago, and he’s not welcome in various political circles for harassment.

All you need to know about Tiny Tony. Surely nw in breach of his suspended sentence?

A Jewish anti-Zionist activist who was ordered to pay £68,000 after unsuccessfully suing for libel after being called a “notorious antisemite” has now lost an appeal.

In September 2023 Greenstein was given a 9 month prison sentence, suspended for two years, for his part in a Palestine Action attack on the factory of Elbit Systems, an Israeli arms company, at Shenstone near Walsall. He was convicted, with three others, of intent to cause criminal damage.

The world appears unfortunately full of stupid people preaching the product of their mental illness, to similar mentally ill hoards holding their banners and signs whipping up hatred, to be confronted by others similarly mentally ill in opposition.

These stupid people need to realise that the decent innocent public of any race, religion or nationality, just want peace and harmony. But instead, these nutters just preach hate onto the innocent public who just want a peaceful life.

Take your problems to the political leaders if you must, but be aware that you yourself are a big part of the problem.

If there have to be sides and a conflict, then identify those that want hate and war, and those that don’t. Then take those that do want hate and war and stick them all on an island together, and everyone else just leave the c***s to it.

… Like try to take your protest to the Israeli Government Representative in this country? Well done Tony.

It’s always nice to know there are a few supporters of a police state in existence.

Not one word about freedom of speech in all the above comments.

Instead pure drivel laced with envy
