Deliveroo data suggests easy Brighton really does tolerate pretty much anything except lactose

Delivery riders to stage Valentine’s Day strike this evening

People in Brighton are sometimes said to be so easy-going that they tolerate pretty much anything and everything – except wheat and lactose.

And, now, data from Deliveroo appears to prove that the punchline is at least half true.

The food and drink and delivery firm said that Brighton residents ordered more oat milk and dairy alternatives than any other British city.

The finding was published as Deliveroo shared its annual 100 Report, listing the top trending orders across its 10 markets worldwide.

The online delivery business also said that those living in Cambridge ordered the most condoms whereas Brighton conversely often features near the top of lists of places with high rates of sexually transmitted infections.

The top trending deliveries of the year, Deliveroo said, were chicken wings, caesar salads and a whole Waitrose cucumber.

The most popular UK food delivery was eight boneless wings from Wingstop, an international chain of restaurants founded in the American state of Texas. It now has several outlets in England, Scotland and Wales.

The same dish was also the second most popular order via Deliveroo worldwide this year, according to the 100 Report.

A new entry this year – 10th on the UK list – is a white wine from the Co-op, ordered mostly by Londoners, just behind a bunch of bananas from Sainsbury’s in ninth position.

Deliveroo’s data also showed that residents of Tunbridge Wells ordered more champagne than anywhere else in the country. If you know what they’re celebrating, do let us know!

    Any data on them

    – Riding on the pavement
    – without lights
    – skipping red lights
    – riding down the wrong way on one way streets
    – generally blocking pavement outside the places they are picking up from

    That’s the important data!

Honestly, I find a typical moped wielding L-plate delivery driver to be the biggest risk on the road to themselves and others around them more than any other class of vehicle.

The data shows that motor vehicles with four wheels or more are the biggest risk to themselves and others around them, more than any other class of vehicles.

Recent data indicates that motorcycle and moped riders face a disproportionately high risk of serious injury and fatality in road accidents compared to car drivers though.

The city saw a notable uptick in serious motorcycle incidents, representing around 23% of total serious injuries from traffic accidents, a figure well above the national average given Brighton’s size.

Moped accidents specifically have been problematic in city centres like Brighton due to tight road spaces and complex traffic flows.

All road users who are not inside motor vehicles face a disproportionately high risk of serious injury and fatality in road collisions compared to car occupants. It’s not just moped riders, it’s pedestrians, people riding bicycles, horse riders and motorbike riders.
Lower speeds, better highways design and fewer four wheeled motor vehicles reduce the risks for vulnerable road users – and car occupants.

I agree with Chris they are dangerous one of there scooter riders nearly mowed down a very small child on the pavement with his mother outside Waitrose western road. Bikes and scooters don’t obey the law, police should do more before they kill somebody
