Marilyn Manson’s Brighton concert cancelled after campaign

It was no April Fool … Marilyn Manson is heading to Brighton

The first British concert of rock star Marilyn Manson’s tour has been cancelled after pressure from campaigners and an MP.

The first leg of his One Assassination Under God Tour had been due to start at the Brighton Centre on Wednesday 29 October.

But today (Saturday 28 June), fans going online to contact Ticketmaster received a message saying: “This event has been cancelled.

“Ticket sales have stopped but there may be tickets available for other dates.”

In January, prosecutors in America said that they would not file charges against Manson, whose real name is Brian Warner, after a long-running investigation into allegations of sexual assault and domestic violence.

Los Angeles County district attorney Nathan Hochman said that the allegations were too old under the law and the evidence was not sufficient to charge the 56-year-old shock rocker.

LA County sheriff’s detectives had said early in 2021 that they were investigating Manson over alleged incidents between dates in 2009 and 2011 in West Hollywood where Manson lived at the time.

Earlier this month, the Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Siân Berry, sent an open letter to the Labour leader of Brighton and Hove City Council, Bella Sankey, calling for the October concert to be cancelled.

In the letter, which was co-signed by some victim support groups and Sussex University students’ union, she wrote: “Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have serious concerns about this booking and its wider impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.”

The letter, which was posted online, prompted a flood of responses from the public pointing out that Manson had not been found guilty of allegations against him and that a four-year investigation did not lead to charges.

Others branded the call to cancel the gig as censorship.

This is interesting so mps seem more interested in wrongdoing in Los Angeles then in Brighton council when wrongdoing has been the reported and no one does the right thing even when they are given the evidence in documentation. Maybe it’s because it’s too close to home and not the right image they like. Let’s hope these alleged allegation are look in to faster then is in the article above. It wouldn’t be the first time this behaviours has taken place in the Council just look at cityclean even had to do a name change to distance themselves.

Those in glass houses, like BHCC, will still throw the bricks despite knowing full well it’s a self defeating course of action in the hope they can try and focus blame on someone, anyone else, in an attempt to hide their own failings.
I’ve never researched the accusations fully but it would seem to me that, in the legal sense at least, that if crimes are investigated and a case can’t be advanced then they were never found to be guilty of the proposed charges, have no criminal records officially recording any offences, and are deemed innocent under the constraints of the system and/or insufficient admissible evidence.
Also of note: The article only references alleged crimes committed within the USA. I saw no equivalent under our system or within our territories.

As I said. I’ve never done a deep dive into him and the allegations made. So I’m certainly not gonna suggest a free pass for him or assert he is a beacon of good behaviour. But without any convictions he is, by all agreed measures, innocent in the eyes of the Law. Demanding cancelling his performance based on ( again from a formal perspective) unproven allegations and unable to demonstrate any evidence of an associated / linked crime is mob rule founded on a group perception of a wrong that cannot be evidenced. Shame on the Brighton Centre for bending the knee based on emotive, unproven, group based assumptions. If he’d been convicted or at least one case had’ve presented verifiable evidence to allow a DA or State Prosecutor to proceed to court.

That said grape/ SA/ CSE etal conviction rates aren’t exactly justifiable in either the UK or US.

What a bizarre turn of events. So Brighton City Council fight to have a concert by an international musician cancelled, when several of their own councilmembers and staff are currently suspended and under investigation – not fired!! – for their provable sex crimes. Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson has never been convicted of anything. There was insufficient evidence to even charge him. Yet you cancel him because a suspiciously-recently-formed (No Stage For Abusers) extremist hate group tells you people accused of anything shouldn’t be able to play. Nice to know where your priorities lie. I hope no other mainstream musician ever performs in that venue out of solidarity. I’m sure Brighton Centre can still make money off their yearly Tory conferences.

Also, what’s with this website’s privacy policy? I’ve never before had to manually reject the “legitimate interest” of all of your 1636 ad-spamming “partners”.

So let’s get this straight. Brighton City Council fight to have a concert by an international musician cancelled, when several of their own councilmembers and staff are accused of crimes and wrongdoing. Meanwhile, Marilyn Manson has never been convicted of anything. There was insufficient evidence to even charge him. But because someone says people accused of anything shouldn’t be able to play in state-owned venues, the concert is cancelled. By the way, this is the exact same tactic the religious fundamentalist right employed on Marilyn Manson during the Antichrist Superstar tour. What strange bedfellows the 1990s right and 2020s left make. Nice to know where their priorities lie. I hope no other mainstream musician ever performs in that venue out of solidarity. I’m sure Brighton Centre can still make money off their constant Tory conferences, though.

The Council hasn’t cancelled the concert let alone “fight for it” to be cancelled.

The Tories haven’t been to Brighton for over 10 years.

The only evidence any of the Marilyn Manson accusers have ever presented are thus:

    – Ashley Morgan Smithline’s photo of a chest with scratch marks. She claimed they were injuries caused by Marilyn Manson. The image was later determined to be a Pinterest stock photo of a 14 year old boy with self-inflicted wounds.
    – Esme Bianco’s images of whip scars on her back allegedly caused by Manson in 2011. Numerous BDSM models and forensic experts on YouTube saying these weren’t “whip scars”, but were instead “rope burn”–when a person ties rope around their skin so tight that it leaves impressions that vanish after an hour or so. Bianco is a BDSM model, and this was standard practice for her during her routine. Plus, photos of her back from 2012 showing no scars.

Mainstream media doesn’t care about the truth. They are all bought and paid for by billionaires, lobbies and governments. They want us all fighting over culture war crap so we don’t notice the massive transfer of wealth, the genocide and death we are all funding with tax, the deliberate “migrant crisis” all for the benefit of digital IDs (war criminal Tony Blair blew the lid). the systematic destruction of the NHS, our education systems, and our way of life. Mainstream media are enablers of our destruction.

Reminiscent of those self-elected right-wing moral guardians Mary Whitehouse and Ross McWhirter who strived to impose their own view of the world on everyone else only now it appears to be the left who’re doing the censoring.

Yet Sian Berry and her Green Party will happily endorse freedom of expression for terrorist sympathisers, i.e. Palestinists. I doubt she’ll have a problem if Kneecap or Bob Vylan play in Brighton.

Oh my goodness, shut-down culture is alive and well in Brighton I hate to say. The double-standards at play here are stark, given Sussex University seems to actively venerate and support emotional abuse, defamation, and sacking of a sussex university professor for having a well established opinion about birth gender, yet seek to destroy the career of someone who has not been found guilty of a crime, in a country with some pretty dodgy laws.

My MP actually signed this? Bring back Caroline Lucas – no way she would have done so.

Agree completely, Caroline Lucas was a real deal, Sian is a clown who voted against a full inquest into the grooming/rape gangs that have abused hundreds of girls across the country. So much for a concern about a rock gig.

This shows just how bella is treating this situation very different to actual convicted offende
This is an article from the Sun News Published 22.53 2 Dec 2020
LEFTY lawyers kept 23 dangerous criminals including rapists and killers in the UK yesterday.

They filed last minute legal challenges to block the foreign offenders boarding a deportation flight It landed in Jamaica yesterday with 13 criminals on board including three killers a paedophile and four drug dealers.

The 23 who were dragged off had been jailed for a total of 156 years including one life term.
One of their lawyers Bella Sankey stood to be a Labour MP last year and was endorsed by leader Sir Keir Starmer.
You’ll be amazed if you go and do a little bit of digging into her background
Obviousl manson obviously doesn’t have an acceptable image for the MP an councillors involve in putting pression on the organisation and we can all guess what came up

The council hasn’t pandered to anyone.

The council hasn’t cancelled the concert – the promoter did. If there was any pandering it was done by the promotor.

And the promoter is the one who will get sued. Especially if an artist has confirmed the booking, usually it’s a breach of contract thing.

Sian Berry voted against the inquest into the grooming gangs. Its completely hypocritical that she should put to get MM cancelled, despite charges being dropped. Will Craig Charles or Simply red be stopped from playing here due to allegations that were never proved?

Nice try Chris Green. The council owns the venue and so forced the cancellation after pandering to your lobbying groups “Males Allies Challenging Sexism” and “No Stage For Abusers”. Your groups fight for “men accused of abuse to be denied a public platform”. Not only have you instigated a nationwide cancellation attempt in Brighton, Bournemouth and Nottingham, your groups have been exposed for public vandalism as well. If you receive a single penny of taxpayer money through your “White Ribbon” campaigns, be prepared for that to end soon enough.
