Knife-wielding tenant threatened to kill staff at Brighton and Hove emergency housing scheme

A man was taken to hospital after a stabbing earlier today (Wednesday 2 July) and another man was arrested.

The incident happened this morning in the Percival Terrace area of Marine Parade, in Kemp Town.

Firefighters from East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were also dealing with a blaze at a flat in Percival Terrace.

Sussex Police said: “Police received a report of a man with a knife in Marine Parade, Brighton, shortly before 9.30am on 2 July.

“Officers attended and a 31-year-old man from Upper Norwood, London, was arrested and taken into police custody, where he remains.

“We are aware of a report of a stabbing near by and a 37-year-old man, from Brighton, was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged.

“The incident is being treated as linked.

“Witnesses or anyone with information is asked to report it to Sussex Police online or on 101, quoting serial 456 of 02/07.”

The fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called at 9.03am on Wednesday 2 July to reports of a fire at a domestic residential building, in Percival Terrace, Brighton.

“There are currently four fire engines in attendance with crews from Preston Circus, Roedean and Newhaven.

“Crews have been using six breathing apparatus and two hose-reel jets to tackle the fire.

“Members of the public are being asked to avoid the area and if in the local area, keep windows and doors closed.

“Police and ambulance are also in attendance.

“As of 9.50am the fire is now out and ventilation in progress.”

Err, so indoors or outdoors ? Random attack or known to each other ? All rather important facts.
It would be nice to have some reporting rather than a referral service for Sussex police..

Nothing about the fire? The 4 fire engines at the scene?

No doubt linked to the huge amount of poorly run hostel halfway type houses currently occupied in these once gorgeous mansion houses. It’s so sad to see and scary to witness various incidents of a drink and drug nature fights when trying to just to walk small children to school.

9.03am Small Children should be in School.
People that live in that Area are used to all sorts no matter if a Mansion or Studio Flat
Even so a waste of a Mansion that’s worth a Fortune.

The report omits that at the same time three fire engines also responded to a fire in one of the hostel units. Local residents in neighbouring streets were told to keep windows and doors shut as a precaution. Always something kicking off there – and the drug dealing is quite blatant.
