A man was found dead outside The Grand hotel on Brighton seafront early this morning (Wednesday 22 October).
Paramedics tried to save the man, attempting heart-lung resuscitation – or CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) – but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A cordon and forensic tent were set up as Sussex Police officers carried out their initial investigation.
The hotel remained open and staff provided help and support to the emergency services who were on site for several hours after the initial 999 call.
Sussex Police said that they were called to the hotel early this morning over “concerns for the welfare of a man in King’s Road, Brighton”.
Police said: “The man’s cause of death is under investigation. However, there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.
“His next of kin have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
