A young man who accepted a lift in the early hours of the morning was left with serious head injuries after his Good Samaritans turned robbers.

The 25-year-old man was offered the lift by two men in the Peacehaven/Rottingdean area between 1am and 2am on Sunday.

The car later stopped and the two men pulled the victim out and beat him, then stole from him before driving off.

A police spokesman said: “The victim was left disorientated, visibly badly injured and wandering around, before being found by passing motorists on Marine Drive, Rottingdean, just before 2am.”

The three men were seen together at the Star Fuels petrol station in Peacehaven at 1am. The car was a light coloured, small, older style vehicle.

The suspects are described as two white men, aged around 20-25. One was over 6ft tall, with brown hair and wore a grey and black stripey top. The other was around 5ft 8in with fair or blonde hair, wearing a dark jacket.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attack, or anyone who may have seen the men and their car that night, or who has other information about the attack to contact Brighton CID on 01273 665542 quoting serial 175 of 15/11. Alternatively, call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
