A man was saved from drowning by volunteer members of the RNLI Brighton lifeboat crew on Saturday morning (3 October).
The lifeboat was called out at 5.10am after someone dialled 999 and told Sussex Police that a man was had gone into the water and was in difficulty.
He was found just west of Brighton Marina by the lifeboat crew, hanging on to a lifesaving ring.
A crew member went into the water and brought the man safely back to the lifeboat where he was brought on board and given medical assistance.
He was suffering from cold water shock and had difficulty with his breathing.
He was handed over to paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service who provided further medical assistance before taking him to the Royal Sussex County Hospital near by.
Crew member Jade Cohen said: “This was a multi-agency rescue which resulted in a life being saved.
“Today the gentleman was very lucky with the quick response from Sussex Police, volunteer Shoreham Coastguard, South East Coast Ambulance and the volunteer crew from Brighton lifeboat.”
