Three men have been arrested after a brawl on a bus in Brighton, Sussex Police said.
The force said: “Police are seeking witnesses to a fight which broke out on a double-decker bus in Carden Avenue, Brighton.
“Three men boarded the 5B service opposite the Sainsbury supermarket at around 1.20pm on Tuesday (5 January).
“Violence broke out on the top deck almost immediately and the bus driver was forced to terminate the journey at the junction of Carden Avenue with Braybon Avenue.
“Passengers, some of whom were no doubt alarmed by the aggression, were forced to transfer to another bus.”
PC John Ballard, of the Brighton Response Investigation Team, said: “It’s believed the fight started upstairs but then moved down to the front of the bus close to the driver.”
Anyone who was on the bus or waiting to board and who saw what happened, is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
Sussex Police said: “Three local men, aged 52, 37 and 27, were each arrested on suspicion of affray and questioned about the incident.
“All were later released on bail – the two older men until (Wednesday) 10 February, and the 27-year-old until (Thursday) 11 February – while inquiries continue.”
