A man’s body has been pulled from the sea by the Peace Statue on the border of Brighton and Hove.
It was spotted by a member of the public hours on Saturday (25 March) after a search by members of the Brighton RNLI lifeboat crew and the coastguard.
The lifeboat was launched after reports of a naked man entering the sea opposite the bottom of Oriental Place, in Brighton, at about 9.15am.
The coastguard helicopter from Lydd joined the search along with land-based officers from Shoreham.
The Surf Life Saving Club in Brighton and seafront officers from Brighton and Hove City Council also joined the search which was called off between midday and 1pm.
Seafront officers helped bring the body ashore after it was spotted at about 1.30pm.
