Police are urging a motorcyclist and a cabbie to come forward as they may have vital clues for officers investigating the Maserati sports car crash in Brighton.

Two women pedestrians were hurt when the blue Maserati 3200 hit them and smashed into a shopfront in Western Road on the corner of Borough Street.

One of the women, a 25-year-old from Hove, was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with serious injuries.

The other, a 34-year-old woman from Hove, suffered minor injuries in the crash last Wednesday (28 March) just before 9.30pm.

Sussex Police said today (Thursday 5 April) that officers were “keen to speak to a motorcyclist who they believe may have vital information concerning the incident”.

The force said: “He was riding a white motorcycle or moped and wearing a white open-faced helmet and a long-sleeved high-visibility top, travelling west.

“It is thought he stopped to help at the scene but left prior to police arriving.

“Officers also want to trace a white Brighton and Hove taxi, believed to be a Peugeot, which was also travelling west along Western Road and which turned left into Brunswick Place at around the time of the crash.

“Investigators are keen to establish if the taxi driver or any passengers may have key information about the Maserati and the manner in which it was being driven just before it crashed.

“Those concerned or anyone else able to assist are asked to contact police online or phone 101, quoting Operation Gunton.”

A 31-year-old man from Hove, suspected of having been the Maserati driver, was arrested, interviewed and released by police at the end of last week.

The sports car flattened a no entry sign at the bottom Borough Street and damaged the front of the Western Road branch of Fox and Sons estate ag3ncy.
