Bank holiday plea to keep Brighton A&E free for those most in need

Brighton doctors’ surgery requires improvement

Health chiefs have issued a bank holiday plea to use the Brighton Station Walk-in Centre to keep A&E free for those in greatest need of emergency specialists.

They said: “Residents and out of town visitors in need of non-urgent medical treatment this May bank holiday are being urged to use the Brighton Station Health Centre, helping free up emergency services for those most in need.

“The last few months have been extremely difficult for the NHS across the country, especially in A&E departments and local GP surgeries as they cope with increasing numbers of people seeking treatment.

“To help ease this pressure on local services this May bank holiday, the NHS is urging people with minor infections and rashes, stomach upsets, superficial cuts and bruises, minor burns and strains to visit Brighton Station Health Centre for treatment.

“There is no need to be a registered patient or to make an appointment to use the walk-in centre and it offers quick treatment close to home from 8am to 8pm in the city centre.

“A website at www.sussexhelpmy.nhs.uk highlights all the other alternatives to A&E visits and has searchable listings on the most appropriate services available across Sussex to treat a range of illness and injuries.

“People can also dial 111 if they need medical help but are not in a life-threatening situation.

“NHS 111 is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and is a great way to get the right medical advice at any time.”

David Supple, clinical chair of the Brighton and Hove Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said:  “This May bank holiday, if you do need urgent care that is not an emergency, you can get treated quickly without an appointment at the Brighton Station Health Centre.”

Dr Supple added: “Everyone can #HelpMyNHS by choosing the right service at the right time, freeing up emergency services for those most in need.”

75% of all these visits can be avoided by sensible and moderated behaviours. Wait. Its Brighton innit, hedonism capital of the the UK! Sunburnt injured drunks walk this way! FFS….
