The Lovely Eggs Holly Ross finds some little assistants at Glastonwick

Well that’s it for another year – sadly the Glastonwick Beer, Music and Poetry Festival at Coombes, near Steyning has now finished. Here’s our report on the third and final day, Sunday 3rd June.

One of the fine open top double decker busses used to ferry revellers to Glastonwick

There were more rucksacks visible today as several of the campers had got their gear together in order to leave the site at the end of proceedings. Once again the old double-decker buses kept delivering hordes of people of varying ages to the site, many of which also ventured on the tractor rides around the estate.

The mood again today was of one of a large extended family all getting on with each other. The sun was shining more than ever and it was fab! I ventured for a longer walk today than yesterday, in order to take stock of my surroundings. I ensured that I took a friend along in the form of liquid sustenance, namely a pint of 4.2% Spencers ‘Windmill I.P.A’, which was perfectly brewed just 30 miles away in Upper Norton. Chilling out on the Sussex rolling countryside high above Coombes, you wouldn’t even know that there was a festival on. It certainly was zero ecological impact as far as I could tell.

Luckily today, I managed to catch all of the music acts. There was even an extra male solo singer called WOB so I understand. So Day 3 the lucky crowd were entertained by the following music artists:

Babar Luck of EastEndTrinity live at Glastonwick 3.6.18

EastEndTrinity/Babar Luck (Pakistan born Chigwell resident Muslim guitarist Babar Luck brought his two Christian mates Justin Hetterly – Bass and Andi Bridges – Drums with him for a pleasing closing set of unity filled punk and alternative music – see him next in these parts on 29th July at The Cowley Club in Brighton),

Holly Ross of The Lovely Eggs live at Glastonwick 3.6.18

The Lovely Eggs (Holly and David aka The Lovely Eggs came down from Lancaster to specially perform their unique brand of terrific indie music and had the assistance of several little helpers who had brought along their Lovely Eggs scarf to support the band. The band enjoyed themselves so much that they even performed a rare encore track ‘Have You Ever Heard A Digital Accordion?’),

The Lovely Brothers live at Glastonwick 3.6.18

The Lovely Brothers (This dysfunctional local family of performing buffoons were well received when they performed pop punk cabaret tunes and combined them with their tongue-in-cheek satire),

Jess Silk live at Glastonwick 3.6.18

Jess Silk (This young lady guitarist from the Black Country performs husky, shouty folk tunes and can be easily be likened to that of a female Billy Bragg),

John Ward Trio live at Glastonwick 3.6.18

John Ward Trio (Lowestoft-based guitarist, John Ward, brought along Les Woodley (Mandolin, vocals) and Lynne Ward (vocals, whistles) for a full harmony folk sound to get the day started).

And that was it, after Babar Luck and his EastEndTrinity it was all over, except for the drinking………………No doubt details of Glastonwick 2019 will be posted in due course, but you can put it in your diaries now as it always happens on the first weekend in June. There is a group Facebook page for Glastonwick too that you can look up.
