It seems the sensible place to be in Brighton on Thursday 28th March will be the Prince Albert as arguably Brighton’s finest garage rock girl duo ARXX are performing a hometown headline gig.

ARXX broke on to the scene in early 2014 are two women with one big sound, namely Hannah Pidduck (vocals/guitar) and Clara Townsend (drums). They marry together an eclectic range of influences stemming from punk, blues, soul, and garage rock.

The Brighton & Hove News music team were fortunate enough to catch a live set from ARXX at The Haunt on 4th November 2017 when they were supporting PINS. I can recall that back then, they were first on the bill and as we arrived and purchased our drinks at the bar located nearest to the stage, we were suddenly blown away by this wall of noise. On turning around to inspect the stage, I can remember being taken aback as there was only the two of them!

ARXX

The 23rd February 2018 was an important day for the duo as they unleashed their 6-track EP ‘Daughter Of Daughters’ with a Launch Party at The Quadrant, located in central Brighton. The songs on the release were ‘Moments At A Time’, ‘Intervention’, ‘Stuck On You’, ‘The Cat Song’, ‘Tired Of You’ and ‘Masters Of Device’. Listen to the EP HERE.

Things have been gaining in momentum since that release, as the girls will shortly be off to play sets around the UK and then in Sweden, the Netherlands and Germany, before returning home for their Prince Albert gig.

At the Prince Albert concert they are joined buy some of their fave acts:
Bleak Terrain – “Sad Music for nice people”
Chloe Pamplin – “Catchy pop/ rock tunes”
Good Guy Clarence – “Blending intricate guitar melodies with unusual vocal harmonies”
