Hove car thief jailed after 130mph chase

A man suffered a slash wound to his neck when he was attacked near a taxi rank in Brighton at the weekend, Sussex Police said this afternoon (Monday 25 February).

Detectives are appealing for witnesses after medics stitched up the 32-year-old victim’s wound.

A man has been charged with carrying out the attack but the investigation is continuing.

Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was attacked in East Street, Brighton, early on Saturday (23 February).

“At around a 1.15am, a 32-year-old man received a slash wound to his neck as he was walking near the taxi rank.

“He was taken to hospital. The injury was not life threatening and he was treated and released.

“A man was arrested shortly afterwards and charged.”

Detective Constable Ed Downes said: “This was a vicious attack with a knife that left a man needing stitches and could obviously have ended quite differently.

“We are very eager to speak to anyone who saw the incident including any taxis drivers waiting in the nearby rank.

“We are keen to identify any witnesses who can assist our investigation. Please get in touch.

“Contact police online or ring 101 quoting serial 80 of 23/02.”

Sussex Police said that Danny Lee Quinn, 31, of no fixed address, has been charged with wounding with intent, having an offensive weapon and having cocaine.

He appeared at Brighton Magistrates’ Court today (Monday 25 February) and has been recalled to prison for revoking his prison licence.
