The King’s School reported an improved set of GCSE results today (Thursday 22 August).

The school, part of the Russell Education Trust, said: “King’s School is celebrating another excellent set of GCSE results this year, improving upon the notable success of our founding cohort last summer.

“Seventy six per cent of our year 11 students achieved five or more good grades this year, including English and maths.

“Our core subjects again performed especially well with 87 per cent in English and 83 per cent in maths at grade 4 or above.

“The average grade for our students per exam was above a grade 5 (described nationally as ‘a strong pass’).

“Twenty five per cent of all grades were 9 to 7 and just under half of the cohort achieved at least one grade 7 (equivalent to an old grade A).

“Once again, the progress of our students is set to be very strong compared to schools nationally.

“With exceptional individual achievements across the board, our 106 students notched up a total of 58 top grade 9 passes across the curriculum.

“We are exceptionally proud of our top achiever, Milly Dickinson, who secured 11 top grade 9s – an outstanding achievement which will put her among the very top achievers nationally.”

The school said that other notable achievements included

  • Anastasia Gray, who passed 11 GCSEs, with six grade 9s, three grade 8s and two grade 7s
  • Georgia Kaps, who passed 11 GCSEs, with one grade 9, seven grade 8s and three grade 7s
  • Charles Ollerenshaw, who passed 11 GCSEs, with three grade 9s, three grade 8s and five grade 7s

Head teacher Sarah Price said: “I am delighted with this year’s outstanding GCSE results.

“Our students worked incredibly hard to achieve such great results and I am very proud of their success this year, which is richly deserved.”

Mrs Price added: “Our imminent move to our permanent site in Hangleton will ensure that future cohorts of our students have the opportunity to replicate, and build upon, their success.”
