Police are trying to identify and find a woman who is suspected of being involved in a raid on a shop in Portslade.
Sussex Police believe that she distracted staff while two men stole beauty products worth about £2,500 from Superdrug, in Station Road, Portslade, on Saturday 27 July.
The force said today (Friday 23 August): “Sussex Police would like to identify this woman in connection with a high-value theft in Portslade.
“A woman and two men entered the Superdrug store in Station Road, Portslade, at around 4pm on Saturday 27 July.
“While the woman distracted the shop staff, the two men stole a large quantity of beauty products.
“Shortly afterwards, the three suspects quickly left the premises.
“If you recognise this woman, please report online or call 101 quoting 499 of 28/07.”
Why do Sussex Police always take so long to go public? Hopefully someone will recognize this woman but who can remember what they were doing on a Saturday afternoon four weeks ago? Who can be bothered to help a police force when it doesn’t really seem all that bothered about publicising crimes and making the most of the public’s goodwill? What did the robbers leave the shop with? Where are their photos? Is this Britain’s most amateurish police force or are there others worse than this?
I’ve long wondered why they take so long to issue witness appeals too. Like you, I just assumed they can’t be bothered. My uncle was a detective in the Met and used to talk about the golden hour after a crime was committed, and how evidence and memories faded with time. When I see how tooled up the police are these days, I sort of understand it on the one hand, but they seem further and further removed from the people they’re supposed to serve and protect: the public.
