Doctors plan £400k extension so surgery can treat more patients

Hove Medical Centre

Patients in Hangleton will be given an update on local health services tomorrow (Wednesday 28 June) and offered an opportunity to share their concerns.

The Hangleton and Knoll Health Forum said: “There has been a lot going on with our partner surgeries with the decision to close Hangleton Manor and automatically re-register patients with the Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub/Burwash Road Surgery alongside the news of Hove Medical Centre being put into special measures by the CQC (Care Quality Commission).”

The meeting, from 10am until noon, at St Richard’s Church and Community Centre, in Egmont Road, Hove, is open to all patients in the area.

It will offer, the Health Forum said, “a chance to discuss both these events, ask questions of the Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub/Burwash Road Surgery and hear about the improvement plans at Hove Medical Centre”.

The Health Forum is also holding drop-in sessions for any patients who have questions about the closure of The Practice Hangleton Manor, in Northease Drive.

The next one takes place at the surgery on Friday (1 July) from 10am to 2pm followed by another at the same time on Thursday 7 July.

At no time will anyone be without GP cover, the Health Forum said, adding: “All patients of Hangleton Manor need do nothing to be registered at the Benfield Valley Healthcare Hub/Burwash Road Surgery as systems and notes will transfer automatically.”

The meeting is also due to hear from Caroline Davis, deputy chief nurse at Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust, which runs the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

She is expected to talk about the Royal Sussex and how it is responding to patient views.

There is nothing wrong with Hove Medical Centre. The doctors and staff are a lot better than their counterparts at Benfield valley/Burwash Hub.i f it is a case of management then get correct persons in who are qualified to run it and not those who are only in it for the money
