One of Brighton’s biggest employers to spend £1.4m on office refurbishment

One of Brighton’s biggest employers is to spend £1.4 million on a total refurbishment of its offices in the centre of town.

Domestic and General (D&G) said that the “complete refurbishment of its Brighton call centre” was part of its strategy of “investing in our people”.

D&G, which provides warranties for boilers and household electrical appliances, such as washing machines, employs more than 700 staff in Queen Square, Brighton.

The company said: “The UK’s leading appliance care specialist, Domestic and General, has confirmed that it will invest £1.4 million in a complete refurbishment of its Brighton call centre.

“The office, located in Queen Square, currently employs over 730 people, making D&G one of the city’s biggest private sector employers.

“The investment in Brighton follows a recent refurbishment of the company’s Nottingham call centre, which was completed earlier this year.

“Both investments form part of a strategy to ensure customers receive a high-quality experience when engaging with its employees.”

D&G’s site director Alex Marples said: “We are delighted to be investing in our people and in Brighton.

“Our call centre employees across the country lie at the heart of our plan to put customers first so investing in the quality of their working environment is critical.

“We take great pride in being one of the largest employers in Brighton and look forward to opening our doors to more local talent as we grow our business.”

D&G said: “Earlier this year, over 100 employees from D&G’s Brighton call centre teamed up with the previous city mayor, Mo Marsh, to host an official Sport Relief fundraiser.

“It was the 12th consecutive year that D&G’s team had voluntarily contributed, receiving nationwide donation calls from across the UK.”

The company added: “Established over 100 years ago, D&G is a leading provider of appliance care in the UK with a growing presence overseas.

“We give our customers peace of mind and remove the hassle by repairing or replacing appliances when they develop a fault.

“With over 2,000 employees operating from four offices across the UK, D&G cares for over 22 million appliances providing support to 16.3 million people.”
