Man wanted after robbery in Hove yesterday

Jacob Chambers

A man with a history of violence is wanted by police after a robbery in Hove yesterday (Friday 21 July).

Jacob Chambers, 34, who was jailed last year for a brutal attack, is believed to be in Brighton, police said this afternoon.

Chambers was jailed for two years and five months in January last year for a sustained attack on his then girlfriend.

Sussex Police said: “Police are appealing for information to locate Jacob Chambers in Sussex who is wanted on recall to prison.

“Officers also wish to speak to the 34-year-old in connection with a report of a robbery at an address in Hove on Friday 21 July and in connection with a report of stalking in the West Midlands.

“Anyone who sees him or has information about it whereabouts is asked to report it to Sussex Police.

“The public are asked not to approach him, but to call 999 and quote serial 1708 of 21/07.”

Chambers was jailed for two years and five months in January last year after he repeatedly punched his girlfriend in the face and threatened to “shank” or stab her.

Judge Maria Lamb jailed Chambers at Oxford Crown Court and imposed a restraining order that banned him from contacting his victim indefinitely.

The court was told that Chambers, of Anderson Road, Birmingham, had been convicted of attacking five previous partners when the latest violent and drunken attack happened on Friday 1 January 2021.

Chambers had more than 30 criminal convictions and, as well as for domestic violence, his record included robbery and aggravated burglary.

He admitted assaulting his then girlfriend in Banbury, Oxfordshire, in the New Year’s Day attack causing her actual bodily harm (ABH) and breaching a non-molestation order.

If he was jailed in January last year for twp and a half years how come he’s on the streets, the sentence sounds like he got off lightly but man alive why is he walking the streets, and please don’t say good behavior,

Bloody disgusting that he is still on the streets causing more misery to yet more people. About time he was punished properly for what he has done and is still doing. This is no lesson as he is still able to do as he pleases. Causing the innocent people to suffer. Look at all what he has done. Let’s put an end to it. Start punishing the criminals not the victims please.

He has attacked 5 previous partners. Why is he not being punished properly? How many more people are going to suffer before he kills one.

So why is he not shut away for a very long time? What planet do our judges live on? Or are they totally brain dead? Surely in cases like this the Law Society should step in and intervene?

he is out and loose because like thousands of other criminals he goes to a prison that doesnt have enough officers or people qualified to judge his condition or enough after prison service – they are dumped onto the streets given a hostel and can go out and donwhat they want and the government introduced a system to get prisoners out early to make spaces instead of rehabilitating them and locking them up thats why crime is out of control unlike other countries where they actually care about their societies. no doubt he will have a hardluck story or appear on a crime podcast soon as a tough guy who is innocent

The law is so out of touch with public opinion. Wake up Uk Government and Whitehall and look at sone of the ridiculous sentencing going on. This particularly nasty individual should not be roaming our streets
