Detectives are appealing for footage of a lorry crash which left a cyclist in hospital with serious injuries.

Sussex Police have asked for CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident where a lorry collided with a cyclist at about 6pm on Tuesday night (7 November) in Boundary Road, Portslade.

The collision left the cyclist – a 39-year-old man from Brighton – with serious injuries in the Royal Sussex County Hospital, in Brighton.

The lorry driver, a 55-year-old man from Staffordshire, was not injured.

Several police cars were spotted at the scene which left the road partially closed, with buses having to stop and restart either side of Portslade railway station.

Sussex Police said: “Police are investigating a collision involving a lorry and a cyclist in Portslade.

“The incident happened at about 6pm on Tuesday 7 November, in Boundary Road, near the junction with Portland Road.

“The cyclist, a 39-year-old man from Brighton, sustained serious injuries and was taken to the Royal Sussex County Hospital.

“The driver of the lorry, a 55-year-old man from Staffordshire, was not injured.

“Officers are investigating the circumstances and have appealed for anyone with relevant CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision to come forward.

“Anyone with information can report it to Sussex Police by emailing collision.appeal@sussex.police.uk or call 101 and quote serial 1086 of 07/11.”

‘Between a cyclist and a lorry’

Report it properly, a cyclist was run over by a lorry.

Or a cyclist rode into a lorry, or was in the blind spot of a lorry, or was riding without lights and wasn’t seen by the driver of a lorry….

…interestingly no comment if cyclist wore helmet, had bicycle lights switched on, as 6pm is starting to get dark.

he did wear protection because most cyclists dont wear anything to be safe

Slightly tangential, but I’ve noticed the road markings when it is dark and wet are very difficult to see, the lights reflecting off the road obscuring them further.
