Police hut appears in busy Brighton street

A hut has been placed on London Road by police in response to anti-social behaviour.

The blue beach-hut style shed is to be used by Sussex Police to increase the police presence in the area.

Sussex Police said: “The hut is ours, and it has been moved from New Road to that location in response to reports of anti-social behaviour in the area.”

The hut appeared at the bottom of Ann Street, next to the Cash Converters shop, after formerly being placed in New Road, North Laine.

There is no indication of how long the hut is to be there.

According to Sussex Police’s online crime map, around 26 crimes were reported in the immediate area of the new police hub in September, and 18 crimes were reported in October – the latest month for which data is available.

How is a bldy shed going to stop anti-social behaviour? Is it some kind of transformer-bot?

I think the idea is there will be someone sat in the hut which means they deal with crime a lot faster than having to drive down there ect ect.

Ah yes, of course, that would be one of the many spare officers that are just sitting around elsewhere.
Nobody will be “sitting in the shed”.

Behold the Panoptished! You can never be sure whether a policeman is inside it, and so fear compels you to act as if there always is!

Except Charles Farley. He knows. He can sling yayo whenever he wants.

It’ll probably get covered in graffiti or vandalised before long, like most other things that litter the pavements.

Dear oh dear! A thing that looks like a beach hut that may or may not have a cop inside it (probably not), with no visible windows anyway. How about a dark blue structure with outward-facing windows, blue flashing lights on top, the word ‘Police’ plastered all over the structure and visible cops with radios and all that stuff in the window, who actually look like they could spring into action and do something? No chance here unfortunately. What has this woeful place become (rhetorical)!

They going to have a fire with chestnuts and pork scratchings? Probably just get squatted and become a safe place to fix up, next to crack converters, perfect innit
