Someone’s cross: Council to remove unofficial St George’s flags placed along A259

Flags which appeared on lamp posts in Rottingdean and Saltdean are being taken down by the council.

The flags were filmed being put up yesterday. with footage posted on the Brighton Reform Facebook page.

It’s believed they were put up by people responding to a social media campaign called Operation Raise the Colours.

One commenter said: “The lefty liberals of Brighton will have a heart attack.”

Another said: “Give it a year and after Brighton council makes Brighton the dumping ground for illegal immigrant hotels and housing, even the lefties will be raising a flag.”

Yesterday, Brighton and Hove City Council said it would not be challenging the use of hotels in the city to house asylum seekers, following a successful court case by Epping Council to stop the use of a hotel there for that.

Today, the council said: “We have been made aware of flags being displayed on some of our highways. These have not been authorised and, as such, will be removed in line with the 1980 Highways Act.”

How does it make you racist to fly the flag of your country? And they have jobs bud, you don’t work 24 hours a day. People do manage to get some spare time even with a full-time job. Funny you say don’t scrounge of the government when that’s exactly what the migrants in these hotels are doing 😅.

When you live in a country but are not allowed to celebrate your country, something is seriously wrong.
Nowadays we seem to live in a country where you are only allowed to be a Patriot for Sports victories and Royal events but are branded racist for being proud of your country/a Patriot the rest of the time, even though being a Patriot has nothing to do with race or where you were born because your country can just as easily be the one you have chosen to adopt, rather than the one you were born in. Not that we Brits have been left with much to be proud of, but that would appear to be part of the bigger plan emerging of intentional country collapse including having among the highest taxes and utility bills in the Western Word. It’s not just a flag. It’s a statement. That’s why it winds the powers that be up so much. Keep claiming it back. If we were really such a terrible country, why do we have so many people from other places wanting to come and live here?

      Absolute rubbish.

You can put a flag on your own home but you have no right to hang one on anyone elses proeprty – and that includes the likes of lamposts and fences.

And that’s not just because it isn’t your personal property but because they are a distraction and can be dangerous and cause accidents.

And where will these so-called adherents of the flag be in a couple of months to remove flags damaged by wind and rain? They won’t be anywhere to be seen and will somehow blame the council for the damaged flags!

But it was fine to put Ukraine flags everywhere? A country which isn’t even ours?

I didn’t notice the Ukranian flag being hung from random lamposts Elaine.

Elaine, please tell me what lamp posts Ukrainian flags were hung from that so offended you?
          I didn’t see any.

I didn’t see any badly painted on crossings either for that point.

Elaine is right. The woke mob have no issue with all manner of flags representing their woke ideology but somehow have an issue with the flag for the country they are living in. Keep flying the St. George’s and Union flags everyone.

And you can keep them flying, just not from places where it is against the law to do so.

It’s quite sad to see how easily someone like Elaine has been pulled into this bigoted narrative. Flags have been twisted into talk of ‘intentional collapse of Britain’. That’s the hallmark of how these groups manipulate vulnerable, suggestive people. It’s a shame to watch someone without the critical tools to see through it, becoming a victim of their propaganda.

Benjamin is spouting utter nonsense. Just another woke left-wing nutcase that doesn’t like seeing the flag for the country he is living in.

Elaine, who’s not letting you celebrate your country.
If anyone isn’t patriotic it’s you with the statement you’ve just made to say we don’t have much left to be proud of, if that’s the way you feel maybe you should move abroad. If you want to celebrate by using a flag buy a flag pole and put it on your garden.

Which flag do you want because British is a union jack not a st George’s cross. Equally as a patriot myself I don’t want to see my flag, tatty and hanging off lamp posts in a dump like saltdean, raised on some nasty racist vibe by fat pubs, that’s not British nor English.

Perhaps the council would like to put up Union flags, St. George’s flag, the flag of Sussex (martletts), and the flag of Brighton and Hove (dolphins) along the seafront?

Useless woke left-wing nutcases in Brighton & Hove council have no problem with Ukraine, Palestine, LGBT+, BLM flags but seems to have a problem with patriots flaying an English flag in England. If the woke morons in Brighton & Hove council don’t like our flag it’s clearly not their flag and not their country so they can move elsewhere.
Keep flying the St. George’s flag everyone. Don’t let these woke council morons dictate their woke ideology.

Turning a routine enforcement into an anti-patriot rant is just twisting the narrative, Danny. You’re the example.

It is because they didn’t have permission to put them on the lamp posts. Not what flag it is.

This is obviously a move to stir up some sort of agenda.

The venn diagram of people who take ‘pride in their country’ in this way, and the people who let their dogs defecate on the street and don’t clear it up overlap.

What I can’t understand is why people think that it’s immigrants, gays, trans, or anyone that isn’t a white heterosexual male that makes their lives harder or more difficult. I don’t see Nigel Farage struggling to make ends meet. Do the individuals putting up pieces of cloth on lampposts really think that Nigel Farage and the rest of his kind have working people’s wellbeing as their priority. They are using you and making you think that it’s immigrants that are the problem when in fact they are living the high life, not paying tax and laughing in your face.

I am working class and Brighton born and bred and I am fed up with flag shagging idiots blaming people who are struggling just as much as they are. Get a F-ing education and fight against the likes of Farage. If you honestly think it’s immigrants, trans, gay and woke then you need to wake the F up.

Instead of wasting your time and energy climbing up lampposts with a piece of cloth, ask why the likes of Farage are living in luxury. Immigrants aren’t the problem.
