A nomadic Brighton restaurant is opening its first permanent home after 11 year of running pop-ups, collaborations, and residencies across Brighton.
Dan Kenny and Marcin Miasik are opening The Set in its new home at 9 Preston Road on 27 May – previously home to Senor Buddha and Kitgum Kitchen.
There’s room for just 12 diners sat at a counter, with a view of the fully open kitchen – and a no-phone policy.
And Dan and Marcin are sharing the space with Japanese restaurant Masu, meaning the menu will change throughout the week.
There will be Japanese BBQ from Masu on Mondays and Tuesdays, a ramen lunch on Fridays, and a set 12 to 15 course menu featuring local produce in the evening from Thursday to Saturday.
Wednesdays will see a smaller, more affordable set menu on offer for both lunch and evening service, and Sundays will feature a sushi-led lunch.
Dan said: “This restaurant is ten years in the making. It’s been on my mind and the main motivator to graft hard and get to this goal.
“All the highs and lows have been building to 27 of May. And we’re nearly there.
“The dream is close to becoming a reality and I’ll do everything to make it the best restaurant I can. Not just the food, service and space but a place run the right way for the people in it and the community around it.
“It’ll be my privilege and I can’t wait to get cooking.”
