A road in the centre of Brighton was closed after a crash earlier today (Sunday 7 May).
Police taped off the bottom of St James’s Street, at the Old Steine end, after the incident.
Sussex Police and the South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene.
Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to the Old Steine, in Brighton, at around 2.30pm on Sunday (7 May) after a bus collided with a pedestrian.
“A Brighton man in his fifties was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he remains for treatment.
“Anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant video footage is asked to contact police online or via 101, quoting Operation Herb.”
A man was severely injured and unresponsive. I passed it and although there was a Brighton & Hove Bus there with the driver on the phone, I daren’t say they were involved. I saw no damage to the front of the bus.
The injured man was unconscious and half in the road and on the pavement. What happened? I do not know. I was unable to help, so I moved on.
