About 1,500 homes were left without water or just a trickle this morning.
Southern Water said the loss of pressure was caused by a valve operation at one of its reservoirs. It said pressure should now be returning to normal.
Homes in the Dyke Road area, straddling both BN1 and BN3 postcodes were affected. The outage started at about 9am.
A spokesperson for Southern Water said: “We’re sorry to customers in Brighton who experienced a temporary loss of water pressure this morning.
“This was caused by a valve operation at one of our reservoirs, which briefly affected supplies in the area.
“The issue has now been resolved and water pressure is returning to normal.”
