Hove Park School has embedded its GCSE success rate and celebrated an improved performance in languages.
The school said that 61 per cent of students had achieved the government’s benchmark of five good GCSEs – those graded A* to C – including English and maths.
The school said: “For the second year in a row, 61 per cent of Hove Park students have achieved the gold standard of five good GCSEs including English and maths.”
Acting head teacher Austen Hindman said: “When Hove Park School jumped from 44 per cent to 61 per cent in one year, people thought that we wouldn’t be able to sustain that progress.
“Our last four sets of results have all been in the 60s, which shows that the improvements at Hove Park are embedded across the whole school.
“Like many schools, we are adapting to changes to the exam system.
“We are particularly pleased that our traditional area of strength, language teaching, has maintained its own very high standards.
“Two thirds of students at Hove Park School take a GCSE in a foreign language and our EBacc pass rate has improved yet again.
“Last year we were significantly above the national average for this measure.”
“There are some amazing individual success stories at Hove Park.
“Louise Galvin achieved A* or A in all ten of her GCSEs. Anna Pickles and our Head Girl, India Latham, achieved seven A*s and two A grades.
“Twenty-two students, in total, achieved eight or more A* to A grades.”
