Find out who’s on the ballot paper in Brighton and Hove today

Hundreds call for end to using schools as polling stations

Polling stations have opened in Brighton and Hove with the first trickle of voters turning out early. For a full list of candidates see below.

The wet and windy weather will present challenges to the political parties trying to encourage people to vote in the first December election since 1923.

The number of people with a vote in the three Brighton and Hove constituencies totals 223,203, with the weather expect dampen turnout.

The electorate is up in all three constituencies since the general election in May 2017 – and higher than in 2015.

Five candidates are battling it out in Brighton Kemptown, including three current or former members of Brighton and Hove City Council.

The electorate in Brighton Kemptown, which includes part of the area served by Lewes District Council, totals 69,833.

Seven candidates have entered the fray in Brighton Pavilion, with 79,057 people having registered to vote.

In Hove there are also seven candidates, with 74,313 registered voters.

Turnout last time was 72.7 per cent in Brighton Kemptown, 76.62 per cent in Brighton Pavilion and 77.75 per cent in Hove. Nationally the figure was 69 per cent.

Lloyd Russell-Moyle – Labour

Ben Thomas – Liberal Democrat

The candidates in Brighton Pavilion are

Bob Dobbs – Independent

Nigel Furness – UK Independence Party (UKIP)

Emma Hogan – Conservative

Adam Imanpour – Labour

Caroline Lucas – Green

Richard Milton – Brexit Party

Citizen Skwith – Monster Raving Loony Party

Beatrice Bass – Liberal Democrat

Dame Dixon – Monster Raving Loony Party

Angela Hancock – Brexit Party

Peter Kyle – Labour

Robert Nemeth – Conservative

Charlotte Sabel – Independent

Ollie Sykes – Green
