Hove schoolgirl interviews Hollywood star

A Hove Park School pupil interviewed Hollywood comic actor Steve Carell.

Lily Sitzia, 13, spoke with the American funny man about his latest film Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.

She also reported from the premiere of Song of the Sea at the London Film Festival.

Lily is a junior reporter for education charity Into Film through her school’s film club.

She asked Carell about his own bad days at the film’s press day. He gave her tips on how to be funny on the big screen. And she set him a bad day test.

Lily said: “I think the interview went really well. I really enjoyed it and Steve was really easy to talk to and when we did the prop scene. He was really good at it and he did everything I wanted him to do.

“I was a bit nervous to start off with but then as I realised he was really nice so it was really good.”

The Hove Park pupil then went to Leicester Square, in London, to report from the red carpet where she interviewed Tomm Moore, the director of Song of the Sea and young actor David Rawle.

Lily said: “It was really fun meeting all the actors and actresses and asking them questions about how they felt about the film and it was really nice learning about how they did all the drawings for the background and how everything worked.

“It wasn’t like I expected because they sort of came to you one by one and I thought you just sort of had to catch them as they walked past but it was really good.”

The charity Into Film is supported, through lottery funding, by the British Film Institute (BFI) which also runs the London Film Festival.

It aims to help young people to learn about the film industry with the aim of contributing to their cultural, creative and personal development.

Each year Into Film hosts the Into Film Festival, a free annual celebration of film and education for schools and young people across Britain.

The festival comes to Brighton and Hove this month, hosting various screenings and events including The Double, Muppets Most Wanted, The Railway Man, Bugsy Malone, Captain Phillips and Belle.
