Four more people from Brighton and Hove have been arrested and charged during the annual Christmas crackdown on drink and drug driving by Sussex Police.
Tony Graham, 48, was arrested at 2.30am on Saturday (20 December) in Whitehawk Road, Brighton, because officers suspected that his car had been involved in a crash.
Graham, of Ninfield Place, Whitehawk, was charged with drink driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 13 February.
Christopher Yeates, 44, was arrested at 3.50am also on Saturday (20 December) after he was found slumped at the wheel of his car in Clifton Street, Brighton.
Yeates, of The Highway, Brighton, was charged with failing to provide a specimen for analysis and was released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Friday 13 February.
Tracey Elwood, 46, was arrested at 1.25am on Sunday (21 December) because officers were concerned about the way she was driving in Queen’s Park Terrace, Brighton.
Elwood, of Hartington Road, Brighton, was charged with drink driving and released on bail to appear at Brighton Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 17 February.
Amy Bason, 43, was arrested at 2.30am also on Sunday (21 December) because officers suspected she had been drinking when they found her in Tower Road, Sompting.
Bason, of Old Shoreham Road, Hove, was charged with drink driving and released on bail to appear at Worthing Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 5 February.
Sussex Police said that the force had charged a total of 77 motorists so far this month after arresting them during the annual drink and drug driving crackdown.
It added that roads policing units were out on dedicated patrols looking for offenders.
