Brighton’s talented young musicians given boost

Hanya

Hanya

Founded in 2016, Hot Wax Promotions state that “we put on bands we love in the places we love” and that’s exactly what they have been doing in Brighton of late, with the assistance of Tigmus in Brighton.

The two companies are proud to be working together on our their night at The Prince Albert located at the top of Trafalgar Street, below Brighton Station. Their joint statement simplifies things in saying that “We’ll be aiming on putting on the newest bands, exposing their talent to new faces.”

Their forthcoming event Locals #5 will be held on Monday 12th February and ticket prices are kept to a minimum, so you get four acts for just £4. Get your tickets here: https://www.facebook.com/events/125550628153849/

But before you do, let’s see who is on the bill:

Hanya

Hanya who were conceived above LazerZone in Brighton are the brainchild of Heather (Hev) on vocals and guitar and Jack Watkins on drums and they specialise in their own unique style of garage rock and shoegaze. You can find more information about them here: https://www.facebook.com/hanyauk/ and listen to some of their music here: https://soundcloud.com/hanyaband

Circe

Circe  (pronounced sir-sea) hail from Brighton and are essentially singer Alexa and her band, Mark, Brad and Tom. Alexa’s icy ethereal erotic vocal style can be likened to Karin Dreijer, the Swedish singer from The Knife/Fever Ray. Their otherworldly dark synth laden tunes are in the mould of Tubeway Army’s ‘Down In The Park’. They have just released songs called ‘Under My Skin’ and ‘Blood And Wine’. Tuval

Tuval is a multi-instrumentalist songwriter based in Brighton who has in the past four years independently released three self produced EP’s to online acclaim, whilst honing his craft and attracting underground attention around the country. His music takes on the ambitious burden of fusing pop music with R&B, shoegaze and classically backed strings. Having been compared to Elliott Smith, Jeff Buckley and Slowdive, Tuval’s arrangements are fronted by an innovative band of sonic architects. Olivia May Green

Olivia May Green is a Mallorcan born, Brighton based electronic singer/songwriter. Supported by her band they create a deep, vibrant and distinctive sound. A year ago in January, Olivia uploaded a music video of their original track “Devil Inside Of Me” onto YouTube and you can tell that her emotions are portrayed through her heartfelt lyrics and powerful voice. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_SW7rrLnlBI and find out more about Olivia here: https://www.facebook.com/OliviaGreen/
