People from four areas of Brighton and Hove are asking for help from the council over parking.

This afternoon (Tuesday 26 June) Brighton and Hove City Council’s Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee was due to receive parking petitions from people in Portslade, Hove and Brighton.

Some 174 people living in roads north of the railway line in South Portslade, up to Old Shoreham Road, have signed up to be included in a parking zone consultation.

A further 167 people in the Vale Park area of South Portslade, including Norway Street, Denmark Road, Frankin Road, St Aubyns Road, St Peter’s Road, Brambledean Road and St Andrew’s Road, want parking permits for their streets.

In Hangleton and Knoll ward 77 people signed a petition asking for a consultation in the area south of Old Shoreham Road on a controlled parking scheme to alleviate the problems caused by displaced vehicles from the new zone in Wish ward.

Help has also been requested from some residents in parking zone J. Since the zone was extended north of the railway, parking has become harder between Viaduct Road and Ditchling Rise.

The 328 people signing this petition want the zone cut off south of the railway line to make it easier to park nearer their homes at night.

The petitions are due to be noted at the meeting which is due to start at 4pm at Hove Town Hall.

There is a timetabled programme of consultations on potential new parking zones and requests for changes to existing ones.

Please don’t upset parking around woesley rd ,Stanley rd and surrounding roads we all park are cars just on the kerb if you bring in parking restrictions we will loose 50%of are spaces and where do you think several hundred vehicles are going to park and my situation would have to sell up and with probably a decrease in my property value we don’t have any problems parking at moment
