Brighton and Hove Albion will face Derby County in the fifth round of the FA Cup if they can beat West Bromwich Albion next week.

The battle of the Albions ended in a 0-0 draw at the Amex Stadium in Falmer on Saturday (26 January).

But only five Premier League teams can make it through to the final eight in the competition.

Two of the big guns face each other with current holders Chelsea hosting last year’s beaten finalists Manchester United.

The only other top six side still in the tournament, Manchester City, travel to either Middlesbrough or Newport County.

Brighton travel to West Brom for the fourth round replay on Tuesday (5 February). The kick-off is at 8pm.

The winners will host Frank Lampard’s Derby side on the weekend of Saturday 16 February, with ties scheduled from the Friday to Monday.

Derby beat the Seagulls under Oscar Garcia in the Championship play-offs in 2014. They have only managed one win against Brighton in six meetings since, and none since Chris Hughton took charge.

One of the most memorable clashes between the clubs came in the fourth round of the League Cup on Tuesday 26 October 1976, with Brighton having knocked out West Brom in the previous round.

Albion legend Peter Ward scored after just 37 seconds in front of 33,500 fans at the Goldstone Ground, beating goalkeeper Graham Moseley.

Leighton James equalised for the Rams – the 1975 League champions – and in the replay, on Monday 8 November, the top-flight side won 2-1, with Ian “Spider” Mellor grabbing the consolation goal for Third Division Brighton.
