A barber has been jailed for five years for a savage attack on a work colleague in Brighton.
Adam Pirot, 20, of Roedean Road, Hollinghdean, stabbed Yad Fatah, 24, with scissors in a fight over how much to charge a customer.
Pirot, who was 18 at the time, followed Mr Fatah, who was 22, out of the shop – Faded in Preston Street – and attacked him in Stone Street, repeatedly stabbing and slashing him.
Chetna Patel, prosecuting, told Pirot’s trial that the victim suffered serious injuries including a nasty cut to his right arm and his chest, near the heart, leaving him with a collapsed lung.
A witness told police that he heard an argument in Kurdish, adding: “Yad and the man were on the floor. I could see blood on his chest and a very large cut on his right arm.”
Pirot repeatedly stabbed and slashed Mr Fatah, causing a nasty cut to his right arm and his chest, near the heart, causing him to suffer a collapsed lung.
The attack happened on Tuesday 29 November 2022. Sussex Police searched addresses linked to Pirot who was 18 at the time.
The force said: “Evidence was located connecting Pirot to the crime and he was arrested on Thursday 8 December 2022 on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) with intent.
After further investigation, including forensic tests, Pirot was charged with the offence on Tuesday 6 June 2023.
The 20-year-old went on trial a year later and was found guilty by a jury at Brighton Crown Court last June.

Recorder Alexander dos Santos ordered pre-sentence reports before sentencing Pirot to five years in prison at Brighton Crown Court on Friday 17 January.
Detective Constable Jack Page, from Sussex Police, said: “The injuries sustained were very serious and the outcome could have been much worse had treatment not been sought promptly.
“We are pleased with the outcome and that a man capable of such a violent assault has been removed from the community, making it a safer place as a result.”
