The Met Office has issued a weather warning as more rain falls and as South East Water lifted a hosepipe ban imposed last summer.
The official forecaster issued a yellow rain warning for a wide area including much of Sussex, covering today (Thursday 5 February).
The Met Office said: “An area of rain, heavy at times, will move northwards during Thursday morning.
“A brief drier and brighter spell may follow but this likely to be short-lived with heavy slow-moving showers through the afternoon, merging into longer spells of rain through the evening, overnight and through much of Friday.
“Through this event, 20mm to 30mm is likely for many places, with some higher ground areas receiving in excess of 50mm.
“Given the widely saturated ground conditions, some surface water flooding is probable, with difficult driving conditions from spray, flowing water or flooded roads in particular.”
South East Water said this morning: “With immediate effect, we have lifted all hosepipe restrictions across Kent and Sussex.”
The ban came into effect in July last year after what water bosses said was one of the driest springs on record.
