Michael Rosen & MC Grammar: Ridiculous Raps & Rhymes

PREVIEW – MICHAEL ROSEN AND MC GRAMMAR AT BRIGHTON DOME

Michael Rosen and MC Grammar bring Ridiculous Raps & Rhymes to Brighton Festival

Words take centre stage at this year’s Brighton Festival as beloved poet and former Children’s Laureate Michael Rosen joins forces with award-winning performer and educator MC Grammar for an energetic family show packed with rhythm, rhyme and plenty of laughter.

Michael Rosen & MC Grammar: Ridiculous Raps & Rhymes comes to Brighton Dome Concert Hall this weekend on Sunday 3 May at 2pm as part of Brighton Festival, promising a playful and high-energy celebration of language for children and families.

The show brings together two of the UK’s best-loved champions of words. Michael Rosen, known for his infectious performances, sharp humour and hugely popular children’s books, has spent decades inspiring generations of young readers and writers through poetry, storytelling and a deep love of language. Teaming up with him is MC Grammar—teacher, rapper and World Book Day ambassador—whose lively approach to literacy has made him a hit with children across the country.

Together, they promise an action-packed musical showdown as ‘Raps versus Rhymes’ collide in a joyous mix of poetry, beats, wordplay and audience participation. Expect plenty of laughs, big rhythms and creative sparks flying as the pair celebrate the fun, power and silliness of words.

Suitable for ages seven and over, the event is designed to engage young audiences with language in imaginative and accessible ways, whether they already love books or are just discovering the joy of reading and performance. A chilled performance format will also make the show more accessible for families who prefer a more relaxed environment.

Tickets are £10, with a £3.50 booking fee per order for phone and online bookings (waived for Brighton Dome & Brighton Festival members). Tickets for all Young Readers events include a book signing after the performance.

Suitable for ages 7+.
