A teenage foreign student was attacked and robbed on her first day out in Brighton.

The 15-year-old Danish student had left the home of her host family in Brighton to get a bus into the city centre, Sussex Police said.

She was confronted by a group of two boys and two girls at about 6.25pm on Friday (3 July).

One of the girls grabbed the victim and the other kicked her in the head so that she fell to the ground.

The attack happened on a path that runs from opposite Kenilworth Close on Norwich Drive to Heath Hill Avenue, Bevendean.

The thieves stole the girl’s rucksack and grey iPhone 6 and ran off into the fields off Norwich Drive, heading towards Moulsecoomb.

The victim suffered bruising to her face.

A 15-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, all from Brighton, and a 14-year-old boy, from Peacehaven, have been arrested on suspicion of robbery.

They were questioned before being released on bail until Thursday 13 August.

Detective Constable Andy Beaumont said: “This was an appalling attack on a young girl who was far away from home.

“I would urge anyone who may have any information or may have witnessed the attack to come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to a woman who helped the victim by walking her back to her address.”

Anyone with information is asked to phone Sussex Police on 101, email 101@sussex.pnn.police.uk or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.

Shocking behaviour. I hope that the young lady recovers from this vicious assault, and that the feral children responsible are prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

A slap on the wrist at best, i would imagine…
