Attention Brighton and Hove – Can you help Musicians Against Homelessness!

Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) was launched with the patronage of Alan McGee in 2016 with the twin aims of supporting the homeless charities Crisis UK and Simon Community NI and providing gig opportunities for upcoming bands and artists.

Over the past three years around 500 gigs and festivals featuring close to 2,000 bands and musicians have been hosted in England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Wight under our banner.

We have been extremely well supported by national and regional media, rock press and radio and have had the backing of many well-known high-profile music industry names.

To date our events have raised an impressive £150,000 which has gone directly into homeless services, helping thousands of disadvantaged people.

Many of our event managers are promoters, venues, band managers or simply community spirited music lovers.

If you’d like to put on a MAH branded gig our experienced regional managers will support with advice, guidance, promotion and on-going support.

Some of our most successful gigs are organised by bands themselves who arrange a line-up with other local bands, with all parties jointly promoting and achieving good ticket sales and attendance.

For venues interested in hosting, we have some great local bands applying and happy to try to place suitable bands for your event or forward on details for you to book independently.

Alternatively, venue and event manager appeals on social media usually lead to a high number of bands applying directly.

Each gig is independently run by the event manager (not the MAH regional manager) who is responsible for sourcing the venue, choosing their line-up and running the event.

We will supply our official poster with logo which you can add the detail to. We promote across all of our social networks and our events are often covered by local media.

Initially we will require details of date, venue, line-up and ticket price. Proceeds go to the charities, except in the case of reasonable venue expenses being deducted from your ticket takings.

Most venues that host a MAH gig do not charge any fee, or are ordinarily premises which put on music without hire charge. Sometimes our gigs are free entry and don’t sell tickets, but collect donations on the door and inside the venue. We ask event managers to send us their event posters to put on the MAH socials.

Musicians against Homelessness are not involved financially or liable for any events, all donations will be sent from the event manager directly to the charities we support with a unique reference. We do not have a bank account, every single penny raised supports homeless people.

If you are a band/artist not interested in running your own event we are happy to try and place you with an event manager and line-up when one becomes available in your area. We can’t promise to always find a performance opportunity, but we do our absolute best!

#MAH2019 gigs will take place throughout the year all over the UK. Information on our various festival stages and the application process for artists can be found on our pinned post on Facebook.

Please like our Facebook page and follow us on Twitter @MAH_Gigs and Instagram MAH_GIGS to keep up to date with news and opportunities.
