Top marks for Whitehawk nursery

The Roundabout Nursery in Whitehawk is throwing a summer party for parents and children next Wednesday.

The party will be a chance to celebrate the nursery being awarded top marks in no less than nine quality assurance modules run by the council’s early years team.

Presenting them with their ‘Quilt’ certificates will be the council’s cabinet member for children and young people, Councillor Vanessa Brown. She said: “Getting top marks in so many of our quality assurance modules is a wonderful effort and a great tribute to the talent and dedication of all the nursery’s staff.”

The children will get the chance to meet and handle farm animals including baby goats and rabbits, and there will be a range of stalls including:

  • Face Painting
  • Decorate a Cake
  • Make a Summer Hat
  • Hook a Duck
  • Guess the number of sweets in a jar
  • Guess the weight of the cake
  • Velcro target practice
  • Tin Can Alley
  • Decorate a Plant Pot.

Cold drinks, scones and jam are included in the entrance price of £1, which will go towards raising funds for the nursery’s parent support group. The party starts at 5pm and will end at about 6.30pm.

The Roundabout Nursery is part of the Roundabout Children’s Centre. This offers a wide range of services for young families including health visitors, early years visitors, a community nursery nurse, speech therapists and a parental involvement worker. The team works with families, individuals and groups, in the home and in the centre.
