Albion lost to Leicester City in a game where the Seagulls worryingly failed to score again.
In fact the Seagulls haven’t scored a goal since the home fixture with Ipswich on 2 October.
Andy King scored the decisive goal for the Foxes in the first half.
Good work by David Nugent allowed King to have two bites at the cherry, his first effort being cleared off the line by Adam El-Abd. But he made no mistake with his second effort.
Albion came back at Leicester before half time but were unable to penetrate where it mattered.
The Seagulls were given a lifeline eight minutes in to the second half when Will Buckley got in a tangle with Paul Konchesky.
Ashley Barnes, Albion’s regular penalty taker, stepped up but his penalty was saved by Kasper Schmeichel
Barnes then blasted the rebound over the bar.
As the half wore on so Barnes had two or three more good chances to pull Albion level as did Craig Mackail-Smith from a Bruno Saltor cross. But the Scottish international was wide with a header.
Towards the end, King had a chance to seal it for the Foxes and Barnes had another fine chance for the Seagulls, in fact the best of the lot.
Many will have noticed the goal shy striker remonstrating with goal-keeper Tomasz Kuszczak at the final whistle.
Equally worrying for Albion fans would have been Gus Poyet’s post-match comments where he appeared to suggest that he was bored by Albion’s recent non-scoring performances.
