A man was reported to have been found dead in a sex swing at a property in Hove on Friday evening.
Online newspaper reports said that bystanders had said that the man’s body was found by his son.

Sussex Police said: “Emergency services were called to an address in New Church Road, Hove, at around 9.15pm on Friday (22 January).

“Sadly the body of a 56-year-old man was found along with cylinders of an unknown substance.

“A number of nearby residents were evacuated as a precaution but it was soon established that there was no threat to public safety and they were allowed back to their properties.

“Police are not treating the death as suspicious and the coroner has been informed.”

East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said that fire crews responded to a request to check for hazardous materials at about 9.20pm on Friday evening.

Paramedics from the South East Coast Ambulance Service were also called to the property, close to Hove Museum and Art Gallery.

Love the way people shoot the messenger. And how can you owe a duty of confidence to someone who has died?!? There was a lot of chatter about this among the neighbours on Friday evening and you couldn’t miss the 999 vehicles, bringing people out of the houses to have a look.
If the man took his own life, he made a deliberate choice so why should it be hushed up. If he died as the result of an accident, it is right for the facts to be published as a warning to others. There’s almost certainly going to be an inquest anyway when all this will be aired publicly.
Besides why get so rattled about him being in a sex swing. We’re all adults. Each to their own. It’s a relevant detail. If he’d died from hanging or in his car from carbon monoxide poisoning, that would be a relevant detail too.
I wish some people would keep a sense of perspective instead of acting like some Victorian-age censor trying to tell the rest of us what we should and shouldn’t know as if they somehow know what’s best for us.

All they needed to report was that a man had died and was found by his son, and that they found cylinders with an unknown chemical… There is no need to report how he was found unless they had a reason to suspect that there was a possibility he wasn’t alone at the time it occurred.

How often is something reported when someone dies of a natural death? Do they describe the bed they were lying in? If someone hung themselves, then yes say they did, but would u need to know that they died using a 24 braid nylon cord or maybe cotton or hemp.

Can’t be news unless the media turns it into a scandal.

Er, how has the media turned this man’s unfortunate death into a scandal? You may think it’s scandalous that someone owns or uses a sex swing but that says more about you than anyone else. The media is just reporting what happened and it’s being widely reported, not just by this website, because (I’m guessing) it’s unusual for someone to be found dead in a sex swing.

How absolutely traumatising for his poor son.
