A motorbike stolen from Brighton was tracked to Hove and retrieved last night – but despite help from the police helicopter the thief got away.

Thousands of people heard NPAS Redhill as it hovered over parts of central Brighton, Seven Dials and Hove last night, with some people in Hove also reporting hearing bangs.

The bike, which was fitted with a tracking device, was retrieved near Colbourne Road in Seven Dials.

A police spokesman said: “A police helicopter assisted in the successful retrieval of a motorcycle that had been stolen in Brighton on Sunday evening (March 11).

“The Honda NSX was reported stolen from Hartington Road at 10.01pm and a tracking device fitted to it showed that it was still in the city.

“It was tracked to the Colborne Road area and a National Police Air Service helicopter was deployed in a bid to locate the taker, but the offender had apparently made off.

“Anyone with information about the theft is asked to report online at https://sussex.police.uk/appealresponse or call 101 quoting serial 1159 of 11/07.”

Seems like a huge amount of resources being spent on one motorbike to me.

If it can stop the thieving, it is money well spent

Hartington Road? It’ll be one of three lads from Bevendean as usual. Police know who they are. Useless.

I doubt it was scrambled just for a stolen motorbike d the cost would be prohibitive, but if it was already airborne and in the area then it a good use of resources in my opinion.

The cost is the issue? Usually followed by the phrase complex and difficult enquiry.
