A rescue dog has been stolen from outside a supermarket in Brighton, Sussex Police said.
The force said: “Police are appealing for witnesses after a dog was stolen from outside a Brighton supermarket.
“The owner of the Patterdale Terrier had tied her up outside Asda in Marina Square around 9pm on Thursday (31 May), before she quickly popped into the shop.
“On her return, the owner discovered Bootsie, the dog, had been taken.
“Officers would like to speak to this man in connection with the theft.
“He is described as a white man, 5ft 8in, in his mid-thirties and with a brown beard. He was wearing a dark jacket, blue jeans and a beige baseball cap with sunglasses on top.”
Police Constable Andrew Misrahi said: “Bootsie is a rescue dog and plays a vital role in the owner’s life in providing support and companionship.
“The owner is, understandably, very upset about the incident.
“We are appealing to anyone who may have information on the dog’s whereabouts or knows this man, to get in contact with us immediately.”
Sussex Police added: “If you have any information, please report online or call 101 quoting reference 1298 of 31/05.
