Dozens of laughing gas canisters seized after being left by departing tenants

A landlord got a surprise when they found dozens of laughing gas canisters left behind by tenants at a Brighton house.

Police bagged up six sacks worth of the nitrous oxide canisters found at the address in Moulsecoomb Way in July.

A spokeswoman for Sussex Police said: “Police were called to attend an address in Moulsecoomb Way, Brighton, on 28 July, after people had left nitrous oxide cylinders in the accommodation they had rented.

“The Class C controlled substance is illegal and dangerous. It was disposed of by officers.

“No arrests were made.”

They used to sell balloons of laughing gas at nightclubs and festivals when I was a student, I can’t believe they’ve made it illegal now, ironically it’s laughable! You’ve got to do a hot air balloons worth of the stuff for it to do you any harm!

      Dangerously untrue.

Even small amounts of nitrous oxide can cause harm. Regular or heavy use damages vitamin B12 metabolism, leading to nerve injury and paralysis. Hospitals are seeing this more and more. It doesn’t take a “hot air balloon’s worth” to cause permanent damage. Nitrous oxide can cause sudden death, so even a single session in the wrong circumstances can be fatal.

I’m interested in how you get this information. Do the police actively provide you such updates and photographs or are your editorial team proactive and approach the police for snippets of news?

Then how did they get caught?
