The car park opposite Hove Town Hall in Norton Road will be closed today after a car caught fire yesterday afternoon.
The accidental fire broke out shortly after 5.30pm on the first floor of the multistorey car park.
A council spokesman said: “Norton Road car park in Hove will be closed on Friday 1 May following a fire on Thursday 30 April involving one car on the first floor. No one was hurt and no other cars were damaged.
“The closure is in place for a site visit. Owners of parked cars are able to collect their vehicles.
“Look out for further updates on reopening.”
A spokeswoman for the fire service said: “East Sussex Fire and Rescue Service were called to an accidental car fire at a car park in Norton Road, Hove, at 5.40pm yesterday (30 April).
“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackled the fire on the first floor of the car park using one hose reel jet. No casualties reported. Stop message came in at 6.14pm.”
