Brighton-born former England cricket captain Clare Connor has been asked to join a government advisory board to encourage women and girls to take part in sport.
Other members include former tennis player Judy Murray, mother of Wimbledon, US Open and Olympic champion Andy Murray, and Karren Brady, the West Ham United vice-chairman who appears in the BBC TV show The Apprentice.
They have been recruited by cabinet minister Maria Miller. She is the Culture, Media and Sport Secretary as well as Minister for Women and Equalities.
She wants ideas from her advisers who have backgrounds in sport, the media, business and politics.
Clare Connor, 36, played cricket for her school, Brighton College, before joining Sussex as an all-rounder and going on to captain England. She went back to Brighton College as a PE teacher.
